The Grip – How to properly grip the golf club!

No fluff here, just the basic fundamentals of golf.

The grip: we start with the grip because if you get this right, then you’re on your way to a great golf swing.

There are many ways to grip the club, here’s what I suggest you try.

Type of Grip:
1. Interlock grip – (1st choice)
2. Vardon or overlapping grip – (2nd choice)
3. Baseball grip – (not recommended)

Style of Grip:
1. Strong – (1st choice)
2. Neutral – (2nd choice but slightly strong)
3. Weak – (not recommended)

Advanced Golf Grip Tips:
1. Keep the grip more like a single unit where the base of the right thumb comes from the right side but sits over left thumb and creates V’s formed by forefinger and thumb of each hand that are pointing towards the right shoulder.

2. Keep grip pressure fairly light but there should be slightly more pressure in the last three fingers of the left hand and also where the base of the right thumb presses down on the left thumb.

Here is my quick video on the grip:

After watching this, I know there are a few more things I want to include in this video about the grip for you. But for now, this will have to do. Later I will come back and fine tune all my videos, kinda like golf :)

Remember, keep the grip light, loose or soft. Don’t over tighten the grip as it will rob you of distance and accuracy.

Please stay tuned for my next video lesson…Regards, Frank
